One of the main reasons that the large developers make their contracts much more convoluted then they need to be to make them legally binding is that they know most attorneys won’t be able to decipher the meaning of the documents without many hours of expensive research, which most timeshare owners can’t afford. Even if an owner has been injured by their developer, and they can find a competent litigator to take the case, most attorneys won’t file a civil litigation case on a contingency fee basis. The vast majority of civil litigators charge anywhere from $300 to $600 per hour, and require an average of 20-30 hours upfront as a retainer fee. They also have a tendency to drag these cases out as long as possible in order for them to be able to legally bill their clients as much as they can, which is why so few timeshare owners exercise their legal right to pursue monetary compensation from unscrupulous developers. Our attorneys on the other hand have agreed to accept qualified referral cases on a contingency fee basis, which means that they don’t require any money upfront, and they won’t collect a legal fee unless you receive a settlement for monetary damages.
